Bobtail (KB) is a domestic cat that traces its ancestry to the Kuril
Islands off
the coast of
Russia .
This cat has heavy boning and is known for its pom pom-like tail.
The Kurilian Bobtail
Longhair (KL) is the longhaired version of the breed.

in shape of trapezium, rounded in contours, wide at the cheekbone level.
Ears:
medium sized, wide at the base, slightly slope forward. Set wide

medium high. Distance among the ears is equal to ear size. Ears are
rounded at the tips.
Eyes:
Shape: walnut, oval on top and round on bottom. Placement: set on
slight angle between base of ear and tip of nose one eye width apart. Size:
moderately large. Color: clear, brilliant, no relation to coat color,
white cats, vans and harlequins can has blue or odd eyes
Nose:
medium long, straight nose, without definite stop
Chin:
Well-developed wide chin. A bit rounded in profile
Muzzle:
Broad muzzle slightly rounded with an obvious whisker break.

Torso:
Compact, well muscled. Semi-cobby.
Legs:
Legs medium in length, strong, sturdy. Hind legs are longer than front.
Feet:
Sturdy with rounded paws.
Tail:
Composed of one or more kinks or curves or any combination thereof.
May be rigid or flexible. The direction of tail is not important. Visible
length of the tail from 3 to 8 cm. Size and shape of the tail should
harmonize with the common appearance of the cat.
Boning:
Medium to heavy.
Musculature:
Well-muscled, and firm, males being heavier than the females.
TAIL:
Composed of one or more kinks or curves or any combination thereof. May be
rigid or flexible. The direction of tail is not important. Visible length
of the tail from 3 to 8 cm. (1-4 inch). Size and shape of the tail should
harmonize with the common appearance of the cat.
COAT/COLOR:
Length (KB): short. Tail coat: same length as body
coat.
Texture:
soft, silky, laying flat, resilient without a plush dense feel.
Undercoat: minimal.

fine, silky, laying flat. Undercoat: minimal.
Color:
All traditional colors accepted. In reference to tabbies, preference is
given to colors with patterns that are deeper and well defined.

The overall condition of the cat should be of great health, and
alertness.
GENERAL
DESCRIPTION: The
Kurilian Bobtail is a bobtailed cat with medium to large boning exhibiting
a semi-cobby body. The impression one gets when viewing the Kurilian
Bobtail is one of strength and power. This breed is known as an amazing
hunter and fish catcher. They are affectionate and active, and must be in
the company of their people.
ALLOWANCE:
Lockets
on any coat color.
PENALIZE:
Tail length that is more than 4-6 inches or less than 1 inch. A
Delayed Bobtail effect. Extremely arched back. Slender or oriental in body
type and head type.
DISQUALIFY:
Absence of a tailbone. Deformations of the spinal vertebrae. Any
tail without a kink or curve. Tails longer than 6 inches
